    Pearl Harbor 50th Anniversary Medal 1941-1991

    Medal commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour on 7th December 1941. This was the event which brought the United States into the second World War.

    During the attack the US battleship Arizona sank, killing 1,177 officers and crewmen. The USS Arizona Memorial, dedicated on 30 May 1962 is sited above the wreck which remains at the bottom of Pearl Harbour.

    information leaflet with medal: On December 7, 1941 .... "A day that will live in infamy," the United States was thrust into World War II by an attack of the Imperial Japanese Naval forces at Pearl Harbour Naval Base, Hickam Field, Wheeler Field, Belllows Field, Ewa Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Naval Air Station and Schofield Barracks. Almost 4 years later, the war was over with the documents of surrender signed aboard the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945."
