NZS Amokura cap tally that belonged to William Waihora McNeil who served on NZS Amokura and the ferry steamer Maori, pre-WW1.
NZS Amokura was a warship of the Royal Navy, then a training ship of the New Zealand Government.
Privates Sutherland and Waihora McNeil were brothers and members of the McNeil family, one of the oldest settler families in Otago. Their grandfather James McNeil arrived from Scotland in 1849 on board the “Mooltan.”
