    German ammunition pouch, WW1

    Collected by 7/922 Major GS Cheeseman, Canterbury Mounted Rifles, NZEF.

    German make cartouche box; 60 rounds

    3 pouches constructed from has ran coloured leather in a box shape with hinged lid and dividing strap within each. Each box is riveted onto a backing piece of leather , thereby attaching each to each. A long leather strap on each lid buttons underneath with a brass dome. 2 further straps on the backing piece provide belt loops. All joining is done with brass rivets. A large D clip is looped onto the back with a leather strap. A long black cord is tied to this. Stamped on the back is: LOTHAR GOLDSCHMIDT BERLIN
