New Zealand picture postcard, WW1: Remember Belgium's Sacrifices, 1914, WW1

Belgium Week in Auckland opened on Wednesday, the 11th November 1914. A variety of events were held - a street collection raised approximately £2500, reported as "the largest sum ever donated in the Auckland streets in one day". There was a street procession, and a sports day at the Auckland Domain. Members of the Maori Contingent in camp at Avondale performed a haka at the sports day and the Girls’ Branch of the Victoria League gave performances at His Majesty's Theatre. The New Zealand Herald published a full-page advertisement of the programme of events, followed later by a full-page montage of photographs illustrating some of the events.
