    Awarded to a member of the 2nd Battalion, Grenadier Guards.

    five-pointed bronze star; suspension ring attached a straight laureated bar with crescent and a small five-pointed star at centre of bar; with ribbon

    obverse: in centre the Sphinx with the three Great Pyramids behind; around this on a raised band, h is embossed EGYPT above and below:

    reverse: the Khedive’s monogram ‘T.M.’ surmounted by a crown within a raised band

    ribbon: blue-grey with a red stripe near each edge

    medals issued unnamed, but recipients details have been added on points of star

    top points recipient initials: J / G

    horizontal points: initials of unit: 2B / GG [2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards]

    bottom point: service number which is difficult to decipher, either: 5/1134, or 5/11314, 5/437, or 5437
