Frank Silk Whitaker, married man of Auckland served on the Western Front and lost his life at Passchendaele. He left a ten year old son and a baby daughter he had never met. His memory is held in a small collection of embroidered postcards sent to his son. A letter to his widow described where Frank was initially buried. However, he is now listed among those with no known grave at the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
