London-born Arthur Frederick White was employed as an engineer with Hardleys Ltd., of Customs St. Auckland at the time of his enlistment, and gave his address as Victoria House, 48 Nelson Street, Auckland. He attested at Trentham Camp on 12th January 1916 and was posted to E Coy. 12th Reinforcements, and embarked from Wellington on the Ulimaroa on 1st May 1916. Six weeks after disembarking at Suez, Arthur left for England and following his arrival at Sling Camp on 7th August was posted to A Coy, 2nd Battalion, 3rd New Zealand Rifle Brigade.

Rifleman Arthur White left for France on the 5th September 1916. From November 1916 to October 1917 he spent considerable time in hospital suffering from psoriasis, a skin inflammation. He was invalided back to England and admitted to No 2 New Zealand General Hospital at Walton-on Thames in late July. Following his recovery Arthur remained at the Convalescent Depot until 27th May 1918 when he was appointed to the New Zealand Provost Corps with the rank of Lance Corporal. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on 15th January 1919. He returned to New Zealand on 5th January 1920 and received his final discharge on 2nd February 1920.

Arthur White died in Auckland on 2nd March 1951.
