    a bronze four pointed star with crown at top; across the face are two crossed swords; suspension ring; with ribbon

    obverse: central scroll with date 1914-15 surrounded by an oak wreath; superscribed below, monogram initials GV

    reverse: flat and plain; stamped with recipient’s details

    ribbon: watered ribbon of red merging into white which merges into blue
