    For distinguished services rendered during the course of the campaign.
    silver medal; ornate double sided foliate suspender; [a silver rectangular bar is clipped over the ribbon - missing]
    obverse: the bust of La Republique facing left wearing a helmet and a laurel wreath with 'REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' around the circumference; the engravers name is at the base.
    reverse: a terrestrial globe superimposed on a trophy of flags and the inscription 'MEDAILLE COLONIALE'.
    suspension: The medal is fitted with an
    ribbon: white ribbon that has two broad light blue stripes and light blue edges; ribbon missing
    measurements: medal diameter:
    ribbon width: 37mm
    missing parts: bar which identifies the specific service that the medal was awarded for
