    New Zealand Medal, New Zealand Wars (1860-1872)

    Medal awarded to Rawiri Maki, No 2 Company, New Zealand Forest Rangers.

    Maki was a member of the Corps of Guides attached to Gustavus von Tempsky's No 2 Company of Forest Rangers. He also served with the Native Contingent, and although the naming on the medal refers to his service with the Forest Rangers, his medal claim refers to actions at Waerenga-a-hika (November 1865), Paparatu (20th July 1868) and Ruakituri (8.8.1868) which occurred after the Forest Rangers had been disbanded.
