    Adze (English)

  • Description

    Toki, Adze. Multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. Carved from basalt toka (stone). Heavy. Dark in colour. Triangular in cross-section. Dull cutting edge. Rounded bevel chipped towards the cutting edge. Pecking left at the sides. Front of the blade is slightly rounded, surface has wear and several scratches. Large chip at one corner of the blade. Prominent shoulder. From shoulder reduced to butt. Butt end left pecked. Poll left pecked.
