  • Description

    Toki. Adze. Tool used for multiple purposes including carving wooden objects. Carved from basalt stone. Triangular cross-section. Sharp cutting edge with shallow chip at one end. Bevel is polished, concave towards cutting edge. Blade is flat and is highly polished. Adze has a prominent shoulder with defined edge. Triangular butt, highly polished. Surface treatmnt of poll is also polished. Overall is polished surface treatment. Surface colous is brown with black undertone.

    Purchase of the Edward Earle Vaile Trust Fund in 1947 from the collection of L. Moncrieff Nutt.
