    Adze (English)

  • Description

    Toki. Adze. Tool used for multiple purposes including carving wooden objects. Carved from basalt stone. Dark in colour. Quadrangular cross-section. Cutting edge is chipped in multiple places. Bevel surface has steep incline, is slightly rounded. Blade is flat, polished with a patina, has chips at at edges. Raised shoulder reduces to butt. Butt shows some pecking, still with some polish at butt and poll. Polished on most surfaces of the adze.
