    Adze (English)

  • Description

    Toki. Adze. Tool used for multiple purposes including carving wooden objects. Carved from basalt stone. Gray and brown in colour. Quadrangular cross-section. Cutting edge is broken off. Bevel surface is ground into a low incline from further up the blade. Front of blade is flat, lower edge is broken. Blade is longer than butt. Slight shoulder present, reduces to butt. Butt has evidence of pecking, is slightly polished. Poll is unpolished, left roughly shaped.

    Overall surface treatment has some polish.
