    ohu liu. Bailer. Ohu liu are used to bail water out of popao (canoes) or vaka when out in the water. This ohu liu is carved from one block of wood, it is curved and had a handle which is cylindrical in shape, carved into the base. There is also a small plank of wood which is nailed across the base of the handle, perhaps for more support and strength.
