George died of wounds 7.12.1917; received at museum with calico holdall used to send personal effects of his younger brother, Charles Brian Taylor to his mother Mrs Mary Elizabeth Taylor - his next of kin -following his death, killed in action, in France on 30 March 1918. G.B. Taylor enlisted at Hamilton in May, 1917, sailing from NZ with the 28th reinforcements in July. On arrival in England he was willing to forego the rank of sergeant in order to get over to France a little earlier. He left in six weeks, and died of wounds received on Dec 7, 1917 while out with a wiring party. Two of the party were killed outright by machine gun fire. George Taylor was shot through the body and lived only a few hours. He is buried at Ecole near Ypres.
