Made from a single section of kofe (bamboo) the playing holes are burnt through the surface. Fangufangu range in sizes and circumference, the size will depend on who the fangufangu is for, with smaller ones for those with small hands and bigger sizes with those with bigger hands. Also the size of the fangufangu will determine the sound e.g. bigger and longer will have a deeper sound. Fangufangu are played to awaken chiefs or royalty from slumber. This fangufangu is medium in size and circumference, it has five holes along the its length and one on the other side directly opposite the middle hole.
