Ornamental waistband or belt of pandanus leaves. The kamwakorokoro is an ornamental belt woven from strips of light-coloured pandanus leaves. It is a type ot taona n riri, which are objects that are worn on top of a skirt, sitting on the hips. This kamwakorokoro's upper half is made of thin strips of pandanus finely woven together. The top edge of this upper half has been folded back and acts as a backing layer for the front-facing section which features ira n atu (human hair) finely interwoven with the thin pandanus strips to form a decorative zigzag pattern. This woven band of pandanus and ira n atu (human hair) are joined to the bottom half of the belt which is a fringe made up of strips of undivided leaves arranged diagonally. Some of the ends of these strips have been cut in a swallow-tail fashion whilst the others remain rectangular.
