The plate features Egyptian motifs including pyramids and the Sphinx, and a message to Humphreys' wife Phyl (Phyllis). Modified for hanging. Engravings: 'SOUVENIR OF EGYPT / 1941 / [27 Machine Gun Battalion regimental badge] / NZ / 2ND N.Z.E.F. / TO PHYL FROM CHARLIE.'
