    Stone pounder (English)

  • Description

    Reru. Pounder. Carved from a single piece of pohatu maori (basalt stone).Used for pounding/mashing food or ingredients for producing dyes. Rounded pounding surface. Reduction from base to cylindrical grip. Rounded at top with both sides of bar slightly sloping downwards. Conical in overall shape. Dark grey in colour. Purchased in 1936.
