  • Description

    Te rabatan te matau. Shank. This is a fractured part of a shank. It is made entirely of te kuano (phosphate). It is the end that would be used for lashing te tabon te matau (point) to. It is hard in material, pale yellow in colour with some transparency. Its is cylindrical in form portraying a circular cross-section where it has been fractured. The opposite end shows a pair of filed furrows across the side where the lashing would be positioned.

    An angled furrow has been filed perpendicular to the cross-section of te rabatan te matau defining where te tabon te matau would be positioned.
