    puppet, glove, Tortoise made by Raymond Boyce in 1959 for Road Safety Film by Pacific Films.

    Puppet in the shape of a tortoise with papier mache scaled body (painted bright green, yellow, black), and cork head with two plastic buttons for eyes. A knitted gardening glove base with felt material underlay is attached to the underside of the body using adhesive and thin iron metal florists wire threaded around the circumference of the body. The glove allows the puppeteer's fingers to be inserted into the two feet and into the neck to support the cork head. A galvanised iron metal hook is found at the back of the shell, covered with black ducting adhesive tape. The tortoise was made by Raymond Boyce (NZ) around 1959. It was made for Pacific Films, Road Safety Film.
