    Trolling lure shank (English)

  • Description

    Rabatan te kaneati. Shank component of a pearl shell fishing lure. This rabatan is cut and ground from the middle of a specimen of te bwaeao (pearl shell) spanning the length of hinge to the lip at approximately 75mm in length. A perforation is made through the hinge portion of the bwaeao. It is rectangular in general shape and curved in profile. The rabatan is golden yellow to orange in colour and has been polished to high sheen.
