    Trolling lure shank (English)

  • Description

    Rabatan te kaneati. Shank of a fishing lure. This rabatan (fishing lure shank) is cut from the mid-section of te bwaeao (pearl shell) from the hinge to the lip.A perforation is drilled through the thickest point of the rabatan, located at the hinge end. The rabatan is rectangular in general shape with its long sides and surfaces ground and polished. The hinge end is ground to a pointed apex.

    The rabatan is curved in profile with high sheen and iridescent colour, light yellow in colour, slight protrusions on the thin end.
