Te bobwaka. Fishing receptacle. This is a lidded container made of dark brown itai (Calophyllum inophyllum) wood with string attachements. Both components have been carved from the vertical length of a tree trunk. The container part is cylindrical in form with a flat, circular base. The lid is cylindrical and shorter in form. Both ocmponents have been made to fit into each other.

A furrow has been carved horizontally around the exterior of the lid and container components to create a border. The interior surface of both the lid and container show hafted and circular markings from tools to create the hollowed cavity. Cubed nodes have been carved adjacently out of the sides of the lid and container. Perforations have been drilled vertically into the side nodes where te kora (coconut sennit cordage) has been threaded through to link the lid with the container part as well as create a handle component. A crack throug the lid has been repaired with te kora.
