  • Other Name

    Club (English)

  • Description

Te ambo. Club. This is a short wooden club made of te itai wood. It has a bulbous shaped head and a long handle. Inscribed along the handle is the word 'AOMORO.' Aside from this inscription the club remains largely undecorated. The wood is dark brown in colour and smooth-surfaced with some visible abrasions, furrows, and markings on parts of the handle, near the base of the head, and on the head itself.

There is a deep crack or split in the wood beginning on the handle near the base of the head and deepening as it extends up and over the head. There is also some dark staining where the handle joins the bulb. The base of the handle is slightly grooved.
