  • Description

    container for palm wine or water

    Made by Batak people. Made from bamboo sheath, wood, horn, metal, and fibre. The container body is made from a large sheath of bamboo, in a cylindrical shape. One end of the container has a blocked end, the opposing end is open. The bottom end has a ring made from horn around the exterior. Wrapped multiple times around the top is a thin fibre rope that i then braided and attached at the bottom end as a handle. The container has a large stopper carved from wood. The stopper has a circular top with a cylindrical spot, and a curved handle on opposing sides. The top of the lid is faintly incised with geometrical patterns of diamonds and has nail tops creating gold circles
