    container for palm wine or water

    Made by Batak people. Made from bamboo sheath, wood, horn, bitumen, and fibre. The container body is made from a large sheath of bamboo, in a cylindrical shape. One end of the container has a blocked end with bitumen to make it watertight. The opposing end is open. The top and bottom ends have rings made from horn around the exterior. Wrapped multiple times around the top is a thin fibre rope that i then braided and attached at the bottom end as a handle. The container has a large stopper carved from wood. The stopper has a circular top with a cylindrical spot, and a curved handle on opposing sides. The top of the lid is faintly incised with geometrical patterns of diamonds and star-bursts
