panel, embroidered

human history
  • Description

panel, embroidered, framed, silks and metallic threads, two-headed serpent with sun-rayed mask above, generally blues and oranges. Hand written on back " Creativity Shaping Reality" 1981

    From Ms. Bauer's letter:-

"Creativity shaping reality"..... it is a personal piece that sums up the essence of making both tangible and intangible things. The symbolism is heavily influenced by Mayan and Aztec images. The two headed serpent, the Aztec symbol for time and space, is the centre of the piece; the axis through which all power, intent and action must pass.
