Woven puppet figures called wayang
appear to float over the top of this
sarong. These figures are representations
of the shadow puppets used in
Indonesian theatre. Weavers make these
patterns with extra horizontal threads,
using the songket technique typical of
Lombok Island. Songket means to hook.
