The butterflies and common moths of New Zealand

documentary heritage
  • Description

"The author's main aim is to acquaint the beginner with the best known species of butterflies and moths and to provide a manual to help the average student identify most of the species he collects. ... Only eighteen species of butterflies have been recorded in New Zealand (they are all included here) but the moths exceed 1,500. The author has reduced this number to about 180 - the species most likely to be taken in a normal year's collecting."
