The diamond track : from Egypt to Tunisia with the Second New Zealand Division 1942-1943

documentary heritage
  • Other Name

2nd New Zealand Division in action. (Alternate title)

Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force surveys ; 8 (Series)

  • Description

"This survey, 'The Diamond Track,' covers the final scenes in the Battle of North Africa during which the Italian overseas empire ceased to exist and the Axis armies of Hitler and Mussolini suffered a major disaster in Tunisia.

It was during these battles that the 2nd New Zealand Division and attached British formations made the fullest use of their great mobility and carried out the series of 'left hooks' through the desert, first round Agheila, then to outflank Tripoli, and lastly round the Mareth line. In these campaigns, the Division's black diamond signs marked the axis of our thrust line from the frontier of Egypt to the final battlefield in Tunisia."--foreword.
