    Te Puni Wahine is a collection of stories involving women from various newspapers published in the 1890s. Lib has set of three books : He Pakiwaitara, Te Puni Wahine and Te Mareikura.

    Maori media has become an important tool of communication for iwi Maori in the 1990's. This repeats a pattern set last century when Maori used the printed word confidently in their own language. There were 42 newspapers published between 1842 and 1900 which used Maori language.
    This set of three books is a collection of some of the stories from that era. The stories show the style of language used and the range of issues that interested Maori of the time.
    He Pakiwaitara is a collection of stories from various newspapers published in the 1890's. Te Puni Wahine is a collection of stories involving women from various newspapers published in the 1890's. Te Mareikura is a copy of a whole newspaper of that name published in 1911.--Inserted slip
