Characteristic studies of members of the New Zealand Stationary Hospital : Egypt, Greece, France

documentary heritage
  • Description

"The artistic results of the nimble pen of Lance-Corporal Purvis, in recording the painful sittings of the Staff of the New Zealand Stationary Hospital, are herewith offered as a Souvenir; and, in writing this foreword, I have only to ask the leniency of all concerned. We all know each other now, and apologies are really unnecessary.

I would point out that the Cartoonist has been so uncannily faithful that should any of us be under pecuniary obligation - to particularise would be superfluous - this book would be accepted as prima facie evidence of identification, and so we have herein real as well as sentimental value."--foreword.
