"Watts was the University Printer at Cambridge 1802-1809. Cambridge was the base of the evangelical movement. Watts was affiliated to Sir Gore Ouseley, Vice President of the Bible Society and scholar of the languages in which Watts printed. Cambridge's close-knit evangelical circle included Professor Samuel Lee (1820 Grammar and Vocabulary of the Language of New Zealand) who had been sponsored by the Church Missionary Society.
In 1806 Watts and John Smith (his university printer successor) issued the Bible Society's launch book - the New Testament in Welsh. Watts set up his own workshop in 1809 in Broxbourne and established premises on London's Temple Bar." Green, Nile. 2014. Terrains of Exchange: Religious economies of global Islam.
