    "In 2014, as an intiative towards the nationwide commemoration for the Centenary of World War I, members of the Panmure Branch of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists were invited to write an essay on one or more of their WWI soldiers, nurses and their families, with a view that, by 2018, we would publish the resultant essays in a book. Members set about researching the gaps they had in the information about their ancestor and ... there were common themes in the essays.

    As an example, several have made reference to Sling Camp on Salisbury Plain, and Codford Camp a few miles, to the south, both were staging posts for New Zealand forces in the United Kingdom. One essay tells of 'Our soldiers flag' which is held in the Auckland War Memorial Museum. It is embroidered in silk with the names of soldiers when their families donated money to the cause ... The writer of the essay has created a database of the soldiers' names and his has been included in the work ..."--Forward.
