Gilbertese-English dictionary = Te tekitinari n taetae ni Kiribati ma n Ingiriti

documentary heritage
  • Other Name

Te tekitinari n taetae ni Kiribati ma n Ingiriti (Alternate title)

  • Description

"This Gilbertese-English Dictionary, published now for the first time, is really a translation - the French of Father Sabatier's having been translated into English. This translation was undertaken in the hope that it may be of use to a greater section of English-speaking residents in the Colony. It may also be of service to many Gilbertese who desire to improve their knowledge of their own language.

Many of the present generation realize that much of the language of a few generations back is quite unknown to them."--Sister Mary Oliva, Teaoraereke, Tarawa (1971): Preface.
