    Printed letter detailing the surrender of Japan to Allied Forces in 1945. "Order of the day, by Lieut-General S. G. Savige, Commander 2 Aust Corps (A.I.F). Japan has capitulated to the Allied Powers. All her fighting services have surrendered and are disarmed. ... HQ 2 Aust. Corps 8 Sep 45.".

    The message shows appreciation of the various military services that supported the successful operations in Bougainville, including "the gallant airmen of New Zealand whose support in the air was magnificent and decisive.".
