Message: "27/7/17 This is a very old church and contains some curious old relics. One of the most interesting is a gossip's bridle, a sort of iron frame with a piece of flat iron that goes in the mouth and presses on the top of the tongue. It was used in olden days to lock on the head of the old women who caused mischief with their tongues. Of course while wearing this it was quite impossible for the gossip to talk. Chester presents Walton with a bridle to keep the gossip's tongues idle".
