An army bugle boy since 12, Arthur Perry was 22 years old when he went to Anzac Cove. He landed two hours after the first wave of New Zealand troops on a shore awash with bodies.
Towards the end of the campaign he fell ill and returned home on the Maheno arriving in New Zealand on New Years day, 1916.
He also worked at Briscoes for 50 years.
