Provenance: The provenance of this collection is not clear. Donated by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1962, it consists primarly of a scrapbook of photographs, ephemera and correspondence compiled by Sir Joseph Kinsey, However, there are a number of letters addressed to Charles Ford, mostly for 1905, but one as late as 1959.

Subject Notes
Joseph Kinsey was the Christchurch agent for Scott's expeditions. Charles Ford was bookkeeper and storekeeper for Scott on the National Antarctic Expedition, 1901-1904. Later, as an architect in partnership with Gummer, he was responsible for major buildings such as the Civic Theatre, Dominion Museum, Auckland Railway station and Remuera library.
