    (1) -- Journals, 1835 - 1850, dealing with Brown's work, mainly at Matamata and Tauranga and chiefly concerning the day-to-day work of the Mission and tribal disputes. There is little comment on political affairs or the country itself. [Note: Brown's original notes are held at "The Elms", Tauranga, New Zealand]
