    Ngaire Griffin was the wife of Allan Griffin, a fellow Prisoner of War in Manchuria with Arnold 'Lessel' Greig. She worked in the Navy Office in Wellington during the Second World War and had visited Malaya with Allan and Arnold previous to its outbreak.
    Mrs. Ruby Wotton was Arnold 'Lessel' Greig's mother. Originally from Wanganui, she spent time living in South Africa, where she met Macmorland Greig, Lessel's father. The family returned to New Zealand when Lessel was only three months old and settled in Auckland.
