Letter from Mrs Margaret Sievwright to Mrs Amey Daldy, June 28, 1904

documentary heritage
  • Description

Reminding Mrs Daldy's that as an officer of the National Council of Women and a member of the Peace Society, she was only entitled to one vote. As such, she must choose whether she would take her seat as Vice President or as a delegate of a given Society, and vote accordingly. As a solution, Mrs Sievwright suggested that Mrs Daldy take up her role as Vice President and appoint and instruct a proxy to represent and vote on behalf of the Peace Society.

Mrs Sievwright goes on to inform Mrs Daldy that a synopsis of proceedings from the International Council of Women's meeting at Berlin would not be ready for some time. She wrote of Mrs Williamson's family, and forwarded to Mrs Daldy Miss Sherriff Bains address. Finally, Mrs Sievwright briefly mentioned (but did not name the winner - Institut de droit international) the Nobel Peace prize.
