    Building house (pages 1-2); marriage of Charles (page 3); vandalism in Domain (page 4); marriage of Eliza to James King (page 5); plans to join Symonds Street Literary Association (page 7); news of wars in Taranaki, April 1860 (page 9); destruction by fire of Thornton's steam mill (page 14); destruction by fire of Poole's drapery shop and William Denny Hotel (page 17); pages 19-31, sailed from Auckland in the 'Dolphin'; landed at Mercury island to repair a leak; landed at Waikaka [Waikaha?]; went inland to Rangitukia; discussion with Maori on need for administration of justice; visited Te Where, Te Awanui, and Tikitiki (page 22), and Waiomatatiru, where he meets Popata Te Kauri, and on to Kakariki (page 23) and Whareponga (page 30); meets Reverend Raniera Kawhia (page 31).
