Letter from Thomas H. Bartley to Henry Williams, November 21, 1851

documentary heritage
  • Description

Regarding the proper means by which Mr. Williams can divide his estate (namely his land) between his children and the church upon his death. Bartley suggests that the documentation is a good outline but too informal for the purpose. Bartley explains to Mr. Williams that a Will "would be in conflict or counteraction of such dispensation and could only take effect upon property of your own, not upon that which has been invested in trustees.

" He suggests that each recipient should have their portion defined and specifically named to avoid confusion.
