The handwriting style is very interesting, it may be the case that Samuel Hayward was born left handed and taught to use his right hand.

Samuel Hayward Ford was New Zealand�s first resident surgeon, and established a hospital in the Bay of Islands in 1858. It is rumoured that he had a strained relationship with Archdeacon Henry Williams, however Ford attended Williams during his final illness
