Subject Notes
Sarah Yates Kemp was the daughter of missionaries James and Charlotte Kemp. She married Henry Tacy Clarke, the son of George Clarke, in 1852. Her husband, like her father, was involved in the land disputes between the Government, Maori, and Missionaries. Henry acted as Judge of the Native Land Court and had an impact adjusting the land claims of Rotorua Iwi. Later, Sarah and Henry would retire to Waimate and cultivate the land.
