    Edward Gerrard Marsh (1783-1862) was known to be the spiritual adviser of the Williams Family. He married Lydia Williams in 1813, was installed as Canon of Southwell Minister in 1822, and influenced his brother-in-law's Henry and William Williams to take up holy orders and become missionaries in the service of the CMS.
