Hillary thanks Davis for her congratulations and expresses his surprise at the huge public interest generated by the ascent of Everest. In a handwritten aside on the opposite page, Hillary jokes about now needing to buy a new pair of overalls when he returns to Papakura and getting regular haircuts.
